World Whisky Day

Teeling Small Batch

Teeling Small Batch

The Teeling name has a long history in the world of Irish whiskey, beginning in 1782 on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin. Teeling has been part of the Irish whiskey resurgence, as they opened a distillery in 2015 in Dublin, the first seen in that city since 1976. While their whiskey is currently sourced from the Cooley distillery, the plan is to use their own stock once it is ready. The Teeling Small Batch bottling is their flagship expression and was finished in ex-rum barrels, something not often seen in Irish whiskies. They also have a single grain and several single malt offerings.

World Whisky Day 2016

World Whisky Day 2016

Scotchology is celebrating World Whisky Day for the third year in a row by offering a tasting in Saint Paul, MN. We can’t wait to make this a unique and informative event like previous years. To celebrate the global nature of World Whisky Day, we found quality whiskies from all over the world (a task that seems to get more difficult each year). We spend every other month of the year featuring Scotch, so this is an opportune time to try some of the excellent malts being made in countries whose patron is NOT Saint Andrew. Grab a glass and join us!

World Whisky Day 2015

World Whisky Day 2015

World Whisky Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May, or May 16 this year. It was founded in 2012 by Blair Bowman, a Scottish graduate student at the University of Aberdeen and whisky enthusiast. It initially started out as a Facebook page encouraging others to enjoy a wonderful drink. It soon struck a nerve (or taste bud) and by 2014 an estimated 250,000 people participated in hundreds of events in over 40 countries including China, New Zealand and Azerbaijan.
