In 2016, Glenfiddich released the Glenfiddich IPA Cask offering to inaugurate their Experimental Series. This yearly series is geared toward, as the name indicates, experimenting and pushing the envelope of what might be considered normal within the industry while still playing within regulatory bounds. This expression takes the current trend of cask finishing and adds a twist by doing so in barrels that once held an IPA-style beer at Speyside Craft Brewing specially created by a collaboration between Master Blender Brian Kinsman and Craft Beer Expert Seb Jones.
Redbreast Lustau Edition
Relationships matter, both in your personal life and in the world of spirits. Because of an old friendship, Midleton distillery’s Redbreast brand was able to source casks directly from the famous Bodegas Lustau, out of the city of Jerez in the Andalusian region of Spain. The whiskey in the Redbreast Lustau Edition is aged between 9-12 years in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks (much like the Redbreast 12) before being finished for one further year in Oloroso sherry casks from the winery.
Bladnoch 12 Year
2017 marked the 200th anniversary of Bladnoch. The southernmost distillery in Scotland, it was once known as “Queen of the Lowlands.” Living in the shadow of regional brethren Auchentoshan and Glenkinchie, it has closed several times due to a variety of circumstances. The current owner, David Prior, is the first Australian to own a Scottish whisky distillery. The latest relaunch in 2016 was aided by legendary Master Blender Ian MacMillan, which means this bottle of Bladnoch 12 contains product from an earlier period in the distillery’s storied history. This whisky comes with either the distillery on the label or a sheep (like ours).
